PLSS stands for the Public Land Survey System. This is a system used in the United States. This is used to identify parcels of land and to distribute them. This map to the left shows a distribution of Franklin County, in Alabama. You can see the outside of the map breaks down the inner rectangles into certain sections of the county. And there is also some names of places in the map.
